Bonjour Randy,
Bien cordialement, Patricia

HI Randy,
Wishing you all the best and thank you for being an inspiration to our
son, Jaz Sawyer who also felt the connection to his motherland when he
traveled to Africa to play jazz , even though he is 27 years old, he is
a master drummer and an old spirit, thanks to the likes of wonderful
people like yourself he had the opportunity to play music with.
One love, regards, Linda Winters-Williams and Reedy Williams..

Caught you on WGBO Newark today; one of the best hours this week; only
exception to that was celebrating a day with my 22 month old granddaughter.
Frankly all the best moments in my wonderful retirement are playing
my guitar with my friends at one of our favorite clubs or with family
especially the little ones so full of spirit-music.
Any Berkshires this summer?
All the best spirits can bring, and thanks for the great morning..

Being a long time fan and appreciator of the gifts that you have given
to us,
over the years, I was so very happy to see your name among the
performing artists/musicians on the upcoming Jazz Cruise to Alaska.
I pray that, among the pieces that you plan to present, you play "Little
Niles" and "Hi Fly", especially the latter in the way
you play it on Earth Birth.
Stay strong, keep on writing and, above all keep playing
your devoted fan

Dear Mr Weston
My name is Jamal Abdul Wahad I m a pianist 32 years old I have started
to play piano at 22 years. This is a little story about myself and the
reason why I write you this Letter. .
When I was 23 years old I was
watching a documentary about the Montreux jazz festival and I have discovered
you playing the introduction of blue Moses.
It was my first meet with
you and your music; it was a marvelous experience witch have open a
door in my spirit because the music was so mystic, so spiritual, so
original...
Well, this short moment has changed the way of my life. After this event
I have listened all your music and I have read a lot of articles and
interviews about you. I have enjoyed and loved deeply all your music
and discovered the important place of Africa in the world history....
Later I have been in New York, London and Tanjah.
Now I have leaved my country.... la France... And a I live in Saint
Louis of Senegal for one and half year. I go on practice the piano every
day and I try to compose and improvise in the same way as you an perhaps
one day I could find my own style. So I m a lucky man because I am married
with a lovely african lady and I have built a beautiful house with a
music studio where I have a good piano, a good double bass and a lot
of African percussions.
I would be happy to cross the way of a young double bassist who would
like to come back to the Source (Mother Africa) and play music with
me.
I hope you will feel close of my initiative and perhaps that you could
help and pass the message on.
It would be very, very kind of you. Whatever happens, you are always
a light in my life.
Very friendly
JAMAL

Hello Randy, Well, we just got home from seeing you tonight at the cac
in new Orleans, 2/26/05. My kids were probably the youngest in the audience,
Sarah, 20, and David, 15. David has been playing drums for 7 years now,
and is quite good, and branching out and learning different styles.
He, along with the rest of us, so thoroughly enjoyed the experience
with you and your mates on stage. From the opening remarks from the
main man, (I wish I could remember his name, he's done so much), to
your music and words, we learned so much, and I know David is so grateful
for hearing you.
He heard from all of you that he must continue to learn,
play and share the multitude of forms of music we simply refer to as
'jazz', and play music for the greater good of all. I don't really know
what to say. Thank you all so much for such an enlightening, spiritual
experience.
I pray for you, Mr. Blake and Mr. Clarke, your families and
friends, your health, your spirits, and all you touch. 1 Chr 6:31 :
'These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of
the Lord after the ark came to rest there.'
God Bless You All. Kevin, Biloxi,MS.

Randy, not until I first heard you play 20 years ago, (Wow! Time flies!) did
I hear African piano. I heard and felt the call of Africa in my very
soul, down to the bone when I first heard you play. I trembled like
one of your piano notes.
It's been hard to listen to any other pianist
ever since. You're such a beautiful warm human being, too.
Thank you
for all the riches. You'll always be precious to me.
Much, much love...Rhashidah M.

Thank you for being an inspiration to me in my musical career..
I still
remember your trip to Nigeria and your performances and your association
with Fela Kuti especially the night you came to jam at the shrine. Your
playing and your musical vibrations have influenced my understanding
of jazz music end it's connection to my homeland.

Saw you 1/11/2005 at the Jazz Standard in NYC for the first time in
over 25 years. Your music and style are as fresh and insightful as they
ever were, and the passion of the whole Trio ignited every pleasure center in my body & brain. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Love
to the family as well. It's been too long.

Dear Mr. Weston, You are a jazz giant and one of my favorites. I saw
you in Paris with Billy Harper five years ago. I also happen to love
Billy Harper. I have been listening to jazz for many years, (I'm 50),
and consider your work some of the most enjoyable and meaningful music
I have. I love African Cookbook and Spirit of Our Ancestors. I can only
say that you are due a great deal of recognition. Having Dizzy and Pharoah
on one record - wow!! Hope things are well with you.
Again, thanks for
many moments of moving, spiritual music.

My son is an aspiring jazz artist. Currently a rising ninth grader at
Douglas Anderson school of the Arts. He has been inspired by story of
being interested in sports but following your destiny. He has won several
awards( all state, all district, superior band etc) and really has a
passion for music.
I must admit I had never really heard your music
before now and certainly had not read you bio. Your are an impressive,
astonishing musician with a depth in your soul that embraces all cultures.
By the way, Neil Clarke is my cousin and I did not know that he was
as accomplished as has been stated in the "sidemen" section.
I am really proud of him and he is also an inspiration to my son. I
visited his (Neil) mother last week and she told us about her Venice
trip! How awesome. If Neil asks who the heck is she just tell him I
am Junior's daughter from Jacksonville. Be blessed in all your future
endeavors and know that you guys have some more fans from down south.
Sincerely,

All these years I've been looking through the CD stacks to find it.
To no avail. So now I've taken my search online and discovered your
web site. Magnificent!!! Every recording you've done, who played on
the date, and the track lists.
I just wanted to congratulate you on
a very well designed web site.
Cheers, Michael

Hi, I'm a great fan and admirer of Mr. Weston. I'm a jazz drummer living
in Dallas, Tx. and I went and saw Mr. Weston's concert in Houston the
last time he was there and it was very inspiring. Please let him know
that he and his music have been a wonderful inspiration to me.
The spirituality
and the sincerity inherent in his music is always very uplifting.
God bless Mr. Weston.
